ALARIFE:
From the Hispanic Arabic “al’arif” and in turn from the classical Arabic “arif” meaning “connoisseur, expert…” in any auxiliary arts of construction. Formerly “architect, supervisor of works, the one who knows how to build”.
Term in disuse used in the Iberian Peninsula during the Islamic domination to refer to the architect, master builder or mason.
